Premise of the play
In one act, "Bounds" is the theatrical representation of the accusations included in the case "The People of the state of California Vs. Carlo Parlanti". Carlo Parlanti, an Information Technology Manager working in California for Dole, was accused of serious charges involving actions which criminologists and experts have declared impossible. Carlo was essentially kidnapped from Europe, a crime which, as of October 2009, the U.S. District Attorney's Office has no intention of prosecuting. For six years, since July 2004, following his arrest in Germany, his life long companion, Katia Anedda, along with his family, have relentlessly sought to capture the attention of the public and world media. While they have received much in the way of positive feedback, there have been many more disillusionments. In 2008, "Prisoners of Silence" was founded when six women, meeting together to discuss the injustices of Carlo's case, decided there was a need for a non profit organization which would safeguard the rights of Italians being held in foreign prisons: for all the Carlo Parlantis who do not have a Katia Anedda to support them.
