ITALIAN HELD IN USA: FRATTINI WILL ASK FRO INFORMATION

(Ansa) Bruxelles July 31 st  - Franco Frattini , vice president of the Europe Commission responsible for justice , freedom and security, has decided to ask for information from the American authorities on the story of Carlo Parlanti, the itialian information technology expert closed up in the California prison of Avenal. We have learned it from sources near to the EU secretary himself.

Frattini, the sources say, has decided to ask for information from the American  authorities after the appeal launched from Marco Zacchera, responsible for foreign affairs of the party AN , that, after visiting Parlanti in the USA prison, has asked the European secretary to shed a light on any violation endured by the itialian comdamned  to nine years of prison for false imprisonment and rape against his ex partner, accuses that Parlanti has always denied.

Parlanti, an expert in  information technology from Montecatini, is serving the sentence since june 2005, after being  extradated from Germany , were he has travelling for work.” I found Parlanti   greatly tired and pain. – Zacchera declared yesterday after visiting Parlanti in prison – it’s unthinkable that in 2007 a fellow countryman may be locked up in condition unimaginable for us itialians. I am worried : he is not receiving even the necessary medical attention. Full light needs to be shed on his judicial nightmare – hoped  the AN representative – and he needs to be transferred in another prison where at least he can be cured” .
