"Few hundreds' criminals may also be released into liberty, but not even one
innocent must end up in prison, because this would transform the entire

Dear Mr. President,
Dear Mr. Vice President,
Honourable Members of the Government,
We are writing to you to draw your attention to the
terrible human and judiciary affair involving the
Italian citizen Carlo Parlanti, arrested in July
2204 in Düsseldorf, Germany, under a US arrest warrant
going back to 8 August 2002 and never notified to
him before.
Convicted by a Californian Court under the
conviction of sexual assault, abduction and domestic
violence, Mr. Parlanti is currently a prisoner of
the US prison of Ventura in precarious health
conditions. Last 20 April 2007, Mr. Parlanti has
also started a hunger strike to protest against the lack
of basic inquiries thanks to which his innocence
could be proved.
Mr Parlanti declares himself innocent, refused a
plea bargaining which would have freed him after 3
months and rejects all the charges raised against
him by his former cohabiting partner Rebecca White,
several months after the end of their relationship.
After analysing his legal case, we are now
convinced that Mr Parlanti is victim of injustice, due to both
the sketchy trial and the inhuman condition of the
detention, as confirmed by those media dealing with
the case.
In the light of the above mentioned facts, we urge
the highest authorities of the Italian Republic and of
European Commission to take action in order to
carry out all juridical verifications that may be deemed
necessary as well as to address the relevant US
authorities so as to provide Mr. Parlanti with the all
existing legal means which will allow him to
demonstrate his innocence. We also call upon the Italian
and European authorities to assure that Mr.
Parlanti is granted with the right to have a fair trail and to
be judged according to principles of justice and
equity.
Lastly, we ask to the Italian Government as well as
to the European Commission to examine every
possible way apt to shed light on the countless
shadows which surround this case and to provide all
the possible judiciary, financial and humanitarian
assistance in order to let Mr. Parlanti exercise his
rights.
Grateful for any action you will decide to
undertake, please accept, Your Excellencies, the assurance
of our highest consideration,
